Smart Screen

Smart screen is a Flexo screening technology that has been developed to:

  • Produce visually superior highlight and shadow tones.

  • Require minimal changes in Prepress or Print room.

  • Make jobs simpler to prepare in Prepress.

  • Make jobs simpler to print in the Press room.

Flexo screening technologies

Current Flexo screening technologies tend to fall
into one of the following categories:

a) Increased processes

They either involve an Increase in process steps (traditional film imaging and developing, lamination) whereby plate types are only available from one vendor…

b) Increased costs

… or they require Imagers to be upgraded at a cost of £00,000’s.
This often results in increased work in the Press room (eg. such as changes to anilox to compensate for the higher screen rulings and the danger of small dots breaking down during the print run).
