Epson and Chroma Solutions to showcase new packaging combination for proofing excellence and accuracy.
The Epson Stand (Hall 1, Stand 200-201) will be the venue for live demonstrations of innovation in proofing technology, with the latest version of Star Proof driving the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 series of inkjet printers. Utilizing the wider colour gamut offered by a new 11-colour UltraChrome HDR (High Dynamic Range) ink set, Star Proof produces hard, sharp, screened proofs which are perfect for challenging requirements. Taking advantage of the additional Orange and Green HDR inks which provide a significantly wider colour gamut when compared to CMYK devices, Star Proof has the ability to match a far wider range of special colours as necessary for the brand and corporate requirements of the Packaging sector.
Star Proof V6 – Packaging friendly features
The ability to produce a proof which matches the final output, right down to the dot shape has long been a crucial requirement in packaging prepress. Aside from producing a screened, colour accurate proof, Star Proof has additional characteristics which have been specifically developed to address the need of packaging and label printers. The following features enable Star Proof to produce proofs which accurately represent the final printed job:
Dot Lost is an option for simulating processes such as flexo or plate making where the plate is unable to hold small dots. If for example, the user inputs 65 micron in the Dot Lost text field, any dots smaller than 65 micron will not show on the proof.
Misregistration simulates the effect of press misregistration for each separation, allowing users to check if the applied trapping distance covers the press misregistration tolerance. If the proof shows the registration amount to be inaccurate, the operator can return to the original file and adjust accordingly.
Multi-Color Shade Estimate enables special color auto fine tuning, so ensuring a consistent color quality when proofing standard or custom spot colours.
Extreme Dot Gain shows an increase in dots and object borders to simulate the plate pressure on the printing press, particularly useful when simulating the effect of printing on corrugated substrates..
